Unto you I send peace...I hope my sincerest thoughts and words penetrate through your bones and skin and caress the inner most recesses of your soul. I look deep within myself and draw upon the intelligence of divinity to share with you the mild, meek and humbleness of me. My soul is hungry and thirsty for some sort of nourishment; I seek only that which is missing, the comforting spirit of a woman.
My name is Gumarus, but most people, family and friends call me Shumez. I am 23 years of age, born and raised in Shreveport, Louisianna. I enjoy all things which are pure and worth enjoyment. I am a very open minded man who appreciates inner beauty. Most of all I love learning and listening. Since being incarcerated, I've come to realize that the worst thing about prison life is not the chains or the degrading environment, or the food, or the racism that is worn like a badge of honor by security. The loneliness of prison, if a man is not fiercely strong within himself he will crumble under the weight of numerous lonely days. I cope only because of the power invested in me.
The hope of a new beginning sparks a flame of determination, that drives me to endure until I overcome. I am a striver, but everyone needs a tug or a push, some help. Comfort me mentally and in return I will do the same. Strengthen me morally that I may return the favor. Complete me spiritually that we may become one. I leave you with these words. I am indebted for all that I call "I" to women even since I was an infant, women opened the windows of my eyes and the doors of my spirit. I am very respectful toward all women because had it not been for the woman-mother, the woman-sister, and the woman-friend, I would have been sleeping among those who seek the tranquility of the world with the snoring. May peace always engulf you!
