"UNKNOWN" by Robert West, Texas Death Row Executed 1997

I have a little peep mirror through which I peek up and down the tier.

1" x 3" it fits through the screen that covers the bars of this death row cage.

I watch the cops and the women that come on the cellblock.

Watch 'em peeking on people and passing out stuff.

Here comes one now, a guard playing mail man, making us hope he can read the names and numbers on the letters because some people get the wrong mail and keep it.

Friggin' Dogs! Mail call, letters, newspapers, magazines & money receipts.

Today somebody named "Uknown" sent me $95. Under "sender" it reads "Unknown".

Who's "unknown"? "Unknown" by me or by life? Does anybody know "Unknown"?

Or does "Unknown" hide, sending anonymous tips to the needy?

$95 will buy me, 7 typing ribbons at $6.95 ea, 100 stamps 20 writ envelopes a $4.00 bottle of multi-vitamins, and $10.35 to the side.

I wish I could see "Unknown" in my peep mirror just once so I might be able to whisper "Thanks".
